So PRIESTS, one of my favorite new atonal rocknroll shit-stirrers, have a new “tape” up on the internet. They’ve imaginatively titled it “Tape Two”, for it is indeed their second tape. I gave it the once-over twice now within the confines of my car, and I’m really digging it – maybe not as much as their paint-peeling “Radiation/Personal Planes” 45, but hey, it’s a rough “tape”, right?
PRIESTS have fashioned themselves as some real political agitators this time. The United States is built on “lies”, because only white men who owned land wrote the Constitution 230 some-odd years ago. Wow!
Priests, let me tell you that in the real world, most of us thinking people hold these confusing, ambivalent truths to be self-evident, and in 2013, after the relative progress this country has made in becoming a nation and growing past its ugly birth pains, we really don’t get all that worked up about 1776 anymore, nor on where the United States stood on enlightened, forward-looking thinking relative to other nations at that long-ago time. 2013 has many ripe political targets for you to take aim at – I anxiously await “Tape Three” and its pointed commentary on ideas that I can sink my teeth into today.
Meanwhile, you gotta hear their new songs. They shred. And the band’s on tour!

Sure, I played this song on the most recent Dynamite Hemorrhage Radio Show podcast, but I think it’s important that you hear it here as well in case you haven’t downloaded or streamed that show just yet. I may have questioned this song’s staying power on the show, but a few days and listens later I think I’m getting to be a true believer.

PRIESTS are from Washington DC, and they summon some intense, caterwauling spectres of dirty no wave, spastic garage lurch and shrieks & artastic wordcore ripped from a very primal place. They have a 2-song single you can buy and/or download from their Bandcamp page, and I suggest you do so right now.

The recording of 2013’s first DYNAMITE HEMORRHAGE RADIO podcast is now in the books, and it’s all ready to share with the people. This is the fourth edition of the podcast, running at about 1 hour, 15 minutes, and it will take you on a musical walkabout so mind-blowing you’ll never, ever come back. It features underground punk, pop, psych, instrumental and garage-scorch dating from about 1964 to stuff that came out a couple of weeks ago. It’s strung together just like a real radio show and everything, complete with an annoying “deejay”. Only you and I have to know that it’s totally phony, and that the guy who did it made the goddamn thing on his laptop.
