Happy New Year, and hello there ladies and gentlemen. Hung over? Nothing to do today? Howsabout streaming or downloading my music podcast DYNAMITE HEMORRHAGE RADIO right about now? This is the 3rd edition in almost as many weeks. Not sure I can keep up that sort of breakneck pace, but here’s hoping.

This edition, recorded on the last day of 2012, forgoes any sort of best-of-the-year malarkey, and instead plays a mix of the new and the old. Mostly the old. The back-announce parts were recorded while I had a gnarly cold, which I still have, and on a brand-new microphone that I suspect doesn’t add a whole lot to the proceedings, but which made me feel like an important radio disc jockey in any case.

Absolutely killer song in a roaring, clattering, blink-you-missed key from San Francisco’s PAMELA, featuring ex-folks from The Splinters and Wax Idols. They’ve only got one 45 out, plus a cheapo $3 purchase for their entire digitized recorded works over here. Do it!

San Francisco’s PAMELA keep building their “Pamela Is Hung Over” collection within their Bandcamp page, adding new songs to the point where I guess you’d reckon it’s really a proper EP now. That’s a good thing, too, since this corker is now something you can pay a few shekels for and actually download. The latest two tracks they’ve added are this one, “Coffin” – which to my ears has a 1974 FM rock vibe feathered into what’s otherwise a tuff, guitar-roar pop song – and “Tooth (Summer is Dead)”, which is an honest-to-god ballad of the Laurel Canyon ilk.

Absolutely one of the best of the new breed. Maybe when they get up to 12 songs they’ll cut the thing into a “compact disc” the way we used to do, hunh?
