This “germinal” UK feminist agitprop post-punk band, one of my all-time faves, is sorta the fish out of water in this San Jose-based hardcore ‘zine, which otherwise features The Lewd, Wasted Youth, TSOL and Black Flag in the rest of the issue. Bully for Tim Tanooka & the boys for some vision and taste.
It lives! I thought after my last fiasco of a show that the people might revolt and I’d be asked to stop doing these hour-long phony radio show podcasts, but no, turns out several dozen of you liked that one and I’ve presumptively assumed that you’d like me to keep going. So here’s DYNAMITE HEMORRHAGE RADIO PODCAST #17, this time 1 hour, 11 minutes of wiry punk, aggressive pop stomp, razorburn instrumental surf music and some loopy early 80s UK DIY that was (perhaps) lost to time until today. I think you’re going to find a song or two you like in this batch, some of which came from a pile of 45s I turned into digital tracks just last night.

I made this compilation for my main blog The Hedonist Jive back in May of this year, and figured you folks might want to take a crack at hearing and downloading it.
It’s called “Hedonist Jive Post-Punk Blowout” (clever, hunh?) and spans the proverbial gamut from aggressive, limber noise; female-vocal art-thump; left-of-center punk rock; and early British DIY (including that blog’s namesake song from The Midnight Circus). Some of these songs have been favorites of mine since I was a wee pup; other were only discovered in the past decade of so. All date from 1978 to about 1983 and fit the already loose “postpunk” category very loosely.
