Listings for incredible punk bills at San Francisco’s Mab, late 70s.
I scanned this 1978 San Francisco punk rock fanzine on my other blog a few years ago – thought I’d do you a favor and let you see it here as well.
UPSETTER fanzine #1, 1978. This was put together in Los Angeles by Chris D. (Flesh Eaters), Judith Bell (pictured; an artist and Chris’s then-girlfriend who designed the sleeve and labels for the Flesh Eaters’ first EP) and Exene Cervenka.
You can read all about it in Dynamite Hemorrhage print fanzine #1.
(By the way, this image and many other fanzine stunners can be found at Ryan Richardson’s excellent Fanzine Faves – check it out).
THE FLESH EATERS, live at Larchmont Hall in Los Angeles, 1978. That’s Chris D. on vocals, Tito Larriva on guitar and John Richey on bass. And some dude’s Levi’s-clad ass in the lower left.
The photo’s an outtake from our lengthy interview with Mr. D. in Dynamite Hemorrhage fanzine #1, which you can learn more about here.

THE GERMS evolve and win friends – review from RAW POWER #5 fanzine in 1978, as scanned and written about in the excellent Waitekere Walks blog this week.
Going to guess at this being a 1978 show, as by 1979 I don’t think you’d have seen The Germs fourth on the bill, playing just after Arthur J and The Gold Cups. Any Masque vets in the audience who were pogoing their brains out at this show?
